Mechanical erection and commissioning

From the machine on its baseplate to the plant in production, with a signed protocol and no surprises at start-up.

A badly aligned pump does not fail on day one. It fails eight months later, with a worn-out bearing and a burst mechanical seal, and by then nobody links the failure to the installation. The blame goes to the equipment, the manufacturer or bad luck.

We align with laser equipment and keep a written record of the initial and final readings. That extra half hour per machine is the difference between an assembly that lasts for years and one that will cost you an unplanned shutdown in the middle of your busiest season.

Mechanical erection

Receipt and positioning of equipment, levelling, chemical or mechanical anchoring to suit the foundation, grouting where the equipment requires it, and final hot alignment where the service justifies it. We work with pumps, compressors, fans, gearboxes, conveyors and complete production lines.

Laser alignment with records

We measure angular and parallel misalignment, correct with calibrated shims and measure again. The report goes into the dossier, so that if there is a dispute in two years' time about the cause of a failure, there is data rather than opinion.

Electrical and instrumentation

Electrical and control work decides whether the plant starts on schedule. We install and terminate medium- and low-voltage switchgear, motors, variable-frequency drives, starters and protection systems, together with power and control cabling, cable tray, labelling and correct shielding.

In instrumentation we cover the full range of process measurement: pressure, temperature, flow, level and analysers, each calibrated and with its loop verified against the control system, whether PLC, DCS or SCADA.

Commissioning and test procedures

Commissioning is done against a checklist, not from memory. Every point is tested, signed and dated. This includes direction of rotation, field signals one by one, safety interlocks, alarms, start and stop sequences, and a no-load test before product is introduced.

It is the step most often cut short when time is tight, and the most expensive one to have skipped. A reversed signal or an unchecked interlock always shows up at the worst moment, with the plant full.

Industrial painting and protection

Surface preparation by blasting to the grade the system requires, usually Sa 2½, and application of paint systems to ISO 12944 according to the corrosivity category of the site. A dry indoor building and a coastal plant in a saline atmosphere are not the same, and the paint system changes completely.

We check wet and dry film thicknesses and keep a record. Poorly applied corrosion protection does not show in the first year; it shows in the fourth, when it has to be redone completely with the plant running.

Production lines, conveyor belts and material handling

We install, relocate and maintain complete production lines on site, coordinating mechanical, piping, electrical and control work.
